Since LeBron James was selected first overall in the 2003 draft, he is one of the most anticipated young players to enter the NBA.

The San Antonio Spurs selected 7-foot-4 Frenchman Victor Wembanyama with the first overall pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday night. Some NBA analysts believe he may be a star for a generation.

When the five-time NBA champions held the first pick in the previous two draughts, they both chose big men: Tim Duncan in 1997 and David Robinson in 1987. Both obtained championship rings and had Hall of Fame careers.

Wembanyama is not your normal NBA centre, in contrast to many players of his size. The 19-year-old has the ability to be a force on defence, dribble the ball like a point guard, and make accurate 3-point shots.
